Happy 4th of July

Happy 4rd of July!

Sonics moving to OKC: is the excitement only the feeling of novelty or long-lasting support for the team? Sooners basketball team has been poorly supported with the exception to its journey to Final Four a few years back. Although professional basketball is on different level altogether, I couldn't help but think that it's a perfect barometer to see how well local fans will support NBA in a long run. When the novelty wears off, I think the fans will show their true colors. Football is the ultimate sport here and it's here to stay.

I give Sonics 5 years, max before they find another place to move.

Better Fix It Up

I'm watching the game right now. There are lots of penalties already. They need to chill out and don't do those silly mistakes

Sooners Ranked 4 in The Latest BCS Standing

rushers's picture

Another 2007 BCS shakeup just happened today:

http://sports.espn.go.com...

Ohio State went down to #7 after the loss to Illinois. Everything else? Well, they are kinda expected: LSU #1, Oregon #2, Kansas #3, Oklahoma #4, Missouri #5.

Let's see. If OU beats the unbeaten Kansas in Big 12, Sooners will be able to jump to #2 replacing Oregon. If both LSU and Oregon lose sometime before then, then Big 12 championship will feature #1 vs #2 ranked team in the nation! Can you imagine that? OU vs Kansas or OU vs Missouri will be THE game of the season!

Everything looks good to Oklahoma. But watch out for Texas Tech. Their potent offense can possibly wreck to Sooners road to MNC game. Even Mike Gundy's manly troops can sneak behind our back and put a hammer to our national championship hope.

Last Night Super Halloween

rushers's picture

It's an unusual scene to see Saturday-night like atmosphere happening in Campus Corner on regular Wednesday night, but it did. The kids were out somewhere else trick-or-treating with their gums full of candies that will rot their teeth to the core, while the 21+ year olds did not want to lose the race by intoxicating themselves to the max on public venues. Nevertheless, Halloween was out and about in grand fashion and everybody had a great time.

So I went to Seven47 last night with the expectation that there will be little to no crowd since most of the Halloween flare was exhausted last weekend in Oklahoma City (yeah, I was standing in line along with tens of people for 1+ hour with no hope that I'd ever get into either CityWalk or Skyybar at all that night).

But I was wrong.

PS3 online in OU Housing

rushers's picture

If you have a PS3 and live in any of OU Housing using OU network, good luck playing online.

My buddy has a PS3 and he lives literally two blocks away from me. Since both of us live in OU housing, we figured that it would be a piece of cake to set up online game against each other. Both of us bought Tekken Online and Puzzle Fighter (the Tetris version of our beloved Street FIghter) and were ready to go.

Well, it didn't work out.

We went to those games' menus, created an online room, invited each other out while we are on the phone but could never connect. He went to my online room but couldn't see my online avatar there (I couldn't see his either). Then he created the room and invited me there but I couldn't see his avatar upon arrival. This process was repeated gazillion times until we realized there's no way we can connect.

So if you live in OU housing, you have a better change playing against other housing tenants by NOT using OU's line.

What Are You Doing Tomorrow Night?

rushers's picture

It would be convenient to think that Halloween happened last weekend, because the grand celebration when people dressed up in costumes and waiting in line for hours to get into any Bricktown establishment happened last Saturday night. I doubt the same thing will happen tomorrow night since it's in the middle of the week and people rather sleep early to get ready to work on Thursday.

But I will try to hit up Campus Corner and see what people will wear for Halloween. There were at least 10 people wearing the same D**k In The Box costumes last weekend :)

8 PS3 = 1 Supercomputer

rushers's picture

http://www.wired.com/tech...

Dr. Gaurav Khanna is employing his so-called "gravity grid" of PS3s to help measure these theoretical gravity waves -- ripples in space-time that travel at the speed of light -- that Einstein's Theory of Relativity predicted would emerge when such an event takes place.

I got a PS3 myself and that thing is made to perform heavy calculation. Heck, it even has Folder@home software that calculates cells for cancer research. Now, if PS3 has more games to match Xbox360 then it would be all set. This drought is killing me because I can only play Tekken DR Online for so long. I finished Heavenly Sword (which is only about 6 hours long) and the other games are not compelling enough for me to play them, especially Lair.

But what's interesting to me is that according to him, a supercomputer costs $5,000 while 8 60GB PS3 cost $3,200. That means each 60GB PS3 costs $400?

West End Crazyness

rushers's picture

I think West End is the best place to be when it comes to OU-Texas night. I only visited there twice before this weekend, and honestly, I kinda forgot on how intense the energy is whenever the fans of two football powerhouses gather in one place, talk smack all night from 10pm to 1am. Nevertheless, when I finally got there, all that atmosphere came back to me. Great times.

But the biggest pet peeve is finding a parking spot. Hell, I knew how hard it's gonna get a spot due to Red River Rivalry and all, but it was just ludicrous. Dallas drivers are 1000x more aggressive and they don't mind cutting you off for that precious car space right in front of your eyes, even though you knew you saw that spot first and are positioned close enough to park right into it. Yeah, you can say you gotta apply the "king of the jungle" here, but man, some of these mad drivers just don't know a thing called "courtesy". That particular one pisses me off a bit.
